Startups Are Hard, Even the Second Time Around
Are you struggling to gain traction? Finding it difficult to build your minimum viable product? Having trouble recruiting the right people—designers, developers, or other collaborators? Uncertain about your target market? Feeling overwhelmed while scrolling through Twitter and watching others shine?
If you’ve been grinding on your startup and feel discouraged because progress seems slow, you’re not alone. I’m in the same boat. This is my second startup, coming after a mid-eight-figure exit from my first venture.
Startups are hard.
But if you’ve started something, you’re already ahead of 99% of people who only talk about starting.
Now, stay the course. Learn everything you can about every aspect of running a company—marketing, sales, product, and beyond.
Test different ideas. Some will move the needle; others won’t. You’ll never know until you try. Experiment as much as you can, but understand there’s rarely a single silver bullet that triggers exponential growth. Real exponential growth usually arises from the convergence of multiple connected actions.
Startups are hard.
Learn as much as possible.
Try many things.
Keep going.
If you fail, you’ll be better prepared for the next time.
Here’s to building your own dream, not someone else’s. 🍻
